ear rape!!!

My ears just got raped by the Sydney Symphony.

I mean it was good ear rape but I can't help feeling that the second half of the program was just a tad over the top. I mean I know it was written by an Italian but really:

28 violins
12 violas
11 cellists + one solo cellist
10 double basses
2 flutes + one piccolo
3 solo oboists and a oboe/cor anglais
2 clarinets + a bass clarinet
3 bassoons + a contra bassoon (contra faggot...)
4 horns
4 trumpets
4 trombones
1 tuba
full percussion and then extra shit like this giant ratchet thing, gongs and suspended drum things with pegs attached to them.
1 harp
1 piano
48 member choir
1 solo soprano
1 solo baritone
1 solo child soprano

and it went for 1 HOUR AND 20 MINUTES.

I couldn't hear the words of the choir or anything all I could hear was LOUD and OBOE. There were these percussionists whacking this metal thing with a hammer, like an actual hammer and the oboes kept playing.

I mean it really just topped off a great night of let me see
